Janina Green Bio


Janina currently lectures photography at the Victorian College of the Arts. Studied Fine Arts at Melbourne University and at Victoria College, Prahran. Completed a Diploma of Art, majoring in Printmaking at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Melbourne. In the 1980’s she was an Art reviewer for The Melbourne Times.

Janina is represented in the collections of the Australian National Gallery, Canberra National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of South Australia, State Library of Victoria, City of Waverley Gallery, City of Sunshine, Griffiths University, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Albury Regional Gallery, Horsham Art Gallery, Latrobe Regional Gallery, The Pat Corrigan Collection, Austin and Repatriation Hospital, Melbourne. Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale, Prahran Library Archives, Rotterdam Art Foundation, Netherlands.

Recent Exhibitions::
IKEA: 2012 Edmund Peace Gallery, Melbourne
BE HOME BEFORE DARK : 2012 Gippsland Art Gallery, Colour Factory, MelbourneVACUUM : Margaret Lawrence Gallery. A series of vintage chromogenic prints made in 1993 and originally shown at the CCP in Melbourne and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts was exhibited at the VCA Melbourne in May - June 2011.

Green is also a  2011 finalist in the OLIVE COTTON AWARD a $20,000 Biennial Award for Excellence in Photographic Portraiture, and a finalist in the 2010 WILLIAM & WINIFRED BOWNESS Photography Prize.

2009 was a very busy exhibition year with three solo shows; Where the Heat is  at the Latrobe Regional Gallery, Maid in Hong Kong at Monash Gallery of Art and the Cowwarr Art Space Gippsland.
